We go on about underachieving guys and I think the results from the league prove it. Currently 7 points above us in the league, and top, all be it probably not going to win it, - P's and G's. Cup finalists - Musselburgh. Can any one remember the last time either of these teams beat us? And yet both both have achieved something this season. Musselburgh, looked upon as one of the worst teams in recent years, have appeared in more Cup finals than us in the last 5 years. Time to face the truth guys!

Maybe next season we can get people turning up to train regularly?!!! Expecting to challenge on all fronts by playing once a week is not particularly realistic. Some seem to think it starts and ends with a Saturday morning. We have used 20+ players this season yet regularly have to turn to frineds to make up the numbers for training. I am not sure what the solution is to this conundrum...

if your not at training you not in the starting 11 ?? that might drive people to training. Although some people cant make it due to family time, work commitments etc which is understandable.

My opinion on training. Ive gotten a bit sick of trying to encourage and run about for training when in my over three years of playing we've only had one really well turned out training session. Our teams mentality seems to be, I want to win, we should be winning, but Im not willing to show up every week, Im not willing to train, Im going to blame everyone else when things go wrong, why are we not winning though?

"Why are we not winning though?"

Maybe we are not the good team we think we are?? Yes, we all like to talk the talk and say we want to win things etc but when it comes to it our actions say differently. Training attendance is poor, sometimes we're relying (as Douglas says) on friends despite using plenty of players this season, and most importantly maybe we're not as good players some of us think we are!! As some results have shown. I include myself in that too!

I remember a time when we used to struggle to get 11 players on the park but still did quite well, now we have used 20+ players this season we struggle to get consistent results does that not say it all!

Also why does it take a poor result for everyone to get negative on here and start questioning whats going on? For example, we've known for ages that training attendance is terrible but why wait until now to address it? I'm all for the "those who train play" arguement, but I understand some can't make it every week due to work/family/travel reasons. But, as long as an effort is made by those who can't attend every week to be there when they can then nobody can argue against that! It's the not turning up at all thats the issue I think (as Hank has quite rightly pointed out!)

Anyway thats my feelings on it

We have been debating the training issue for quite some time have we not? Are results this season havent been terrible we just havent won games we should have won.

Training has been debated for a number of months/years but sadly we are no further forward with a solution. Those who attend regularly know who they are but as for the rest well in all honesty it is a poor effort. As stated in previous posts work/external commitments take precedent but sadly I do not think that explains it all. Far too many just do not bother. We have dropped points late in far too many games this season...perhaps a lack of fitness letting us down?

On another note this week we have 12 bodies at present for the game. If you cannot make it please let me know asap. The 12 who as far as I am aware are available this week are Barry, Kenny 1 and 2, Mackin, Sean, Grant, Me, Tich, Mingy, Michael B, Greg and Tommy

Do you not think we should have a training session if/when we know a game is off ( keep us fresh ) and also maybe all get together and decide on a training day that would suit us all?? I could only make one tuesday in 3, there was time when it came to training on my week i could make it and it was off so that counted me out untill next time, craig t was the same. If we all could agree on a day and time that we could all make it and tried to stick to it ( a thursday night i could make pretty much every week for example ). But maybe thats been tried before.

Yeah we have been debating the training issue for a while, but what's actually been done? Nothing! and Jim, if we just haven't beaten teams we should have beaten then that can surely be classed as terrible results. Or am I missing something? I don't want to have a go at anyone, I was just pointing out a few things as I see it and the responsibility for the bad results is a team thing not individual ones! But a few good points have been raised. Can we change the training to a more suitable day for everyone? and training if there is no game is also a decent idea!

And if we can decide on these changes lets do them straight away and not just talk about them.

Lets take a look at this from the otherside, this season we have one of the best squads we have had since I started playing, the longest unbeaten run we have had since I started playing. One very good result on Saturday and results to go our way and we still have a chance in the cup. Now is not the time for anonymous sniping about who turns up to training or what has gone wrong this season. Leave that till the end and use it to prepare for next season. Now is the time for real team spirit to show through, it's easy to have great team spirit when we are winning every week but we need character out there when things are not going so well. Lets go out on Saturday and the Saturday after that and stand up an be counted. Finish the season on a high and then discuss what could be improved for next year!!

I agree too, You are a team, win lose or draw as a team. No finger pointing, Encouragement should be delt out on the parks each week. At the end of the season is the time for reflection and the preperation for next.

Here is a deal, if you guys can get through to the next round of the cup, i'll ask my contact about getting you all shell suits for training and side of park etc. You name the colour ( only available in yellow, orange, 80s pink and highlighter green, colours are bright, you have been warned. ) Now if thats not an incentive i dont know what is!!

Hell yeah, that would be one way to put off the opposition. Imagine the team all warming up in them and the subs/coachs wearing them too. Sends a shiver down your spine thinking about it.

Tomorrow our numbers are a bit thinon the ground. Kenny 1 can no longer play so that has us down to 10 + a late fitness test for mingy and maybe a return from cold storage of Ricky. Lets have no more call offs and everyone have a quiet night tonight as going to be a long shift tomorrow. A victory keeps us in touch for a semi final place in the cup. One big effort required c'mon the Ladywell

For starters i think people who make comments but dont put there name against them should not be able to put comments on the website and it causes a bad feeling within the camp. if we are a football team then there should be no need for people to make anonymous comments, its quite embarrasing in my eyes that we have adults in our team who cant put a name to a comment. and if the comments are being made by people who no longer play for us that is even worse as they are just stirring up trouble and causing the team to split and argue with each other. i admit we are to negative when things go wrong but i also feel we think we are better than what we actually are and maybe having a team that comes from such a wide area doesnt help us, i think if we were all better mates outside of the team then we would play better, there is sometimes a feeling that there are teams within this team!!!!! i think training should start again but with us all living so far apart it will be hard for us all to get together so why dont the west coasters do something and the boys from the town do something and the boys from livi meet up and do something. again work, family and finance might make people not turn up but even if we are playing an extra game of 5's or going for a run might help us on a saturday, i think doing something is better than doing nothing. well thats me had my say but who knows if it will do any good, i think we have had to many of these comments getting made recently and i dont think its doing much for morale or team spirit.
